German Shepherd Training

German Shepherd Training Specialists

Platinum K9 trains many different breeds of dogs, however the core of our business is as German Shepherd training specialists. Over half of the dogs training with us at any one time are GSD’s.

Last week we welcomed three German Shepherds for residential dog training, Elmo, Bacardi and Ella all arrived within a few days of each other.

German Shepherd Training

Elmo is a long coated male German shepherd whose training will be focused on dog aggression. He also needs to learn boundaries and social skills around people. His owners also struggle with his energy and lack of obedience at home. Nuisance barking causes them a lot of stress.

Bacardi is a beautiful white GSD whose training will also be focused on dog reactivity. He pulls very strongly on the leash and is difficult to control on walks. Bacardi also needs to learn some general obedience in the home.

Ella is a lively and excitable German shepherd. Her training is focused on channelling and controlling that energy. We will be training her on and off leash. This includes recall training and a high level of obedience training.

The German Shepherd Breed

The German Shepherd is a breed of medium to large-sized working dog that originated in Germany. In the English language, the breed’s officially recognised name is German Shepherd Dog. The breed was officially known as the Alsatian in Britain until 1977 when its name was changed back to German Shepherd.

Life expectancy: 9 – 13 years

Weight: Male: 30–40 kg, Female: 22–32 kg

Did you know: German Shepherd is the second-most popular dog breed by registrations (129,186) worldwide.
